Accidents - Manushya Puthiran

Image result for forgotten girl painting
By chance
I rang up
Another girl
With a name similar to yours

Translating the love that was yours
Into hers
is like currency exchange
Something about its value
turns a little
either less or more

When she claimed
‘I knew you would
Call me today,
I was sure’
I accidentally dropped
Upon that voice
a little flower
From my bouquet
of love for you

Besides that
I spoke of
An accident in the city that day
As the minute ticked three
She realized
I hadn’t meant to call her
